2018 presents an unprecedented opportunity for the Green Party to take five out of nine seats -- an instant majority -- on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Board of Commissioners, the elected body that oversees wastewater and flood management in Chicago and suburban Cook County.
Here's the catch: to do it, we need at least 1,720 supporters to cast a write-in vote for Geoffrey Cubbage in the Green Party primary election on March 20th, 2018.
This is the result of a decision by the Democrat-controlled Cook County Clerk's office, which less than a month before the start of voting announced a write-in-only primary election for the two-year partial term left vacant by the death of Commissioner Timothy Bradford.
